and a bit more...

Prayers requests and Praise!!!

Praise;
We´ve seen 81 students come to Christ and we´re only half way through!
We´ve shared the gospel with over 220 students and have over 400 contacts!
We´re building into spiritual multipliers (Students who will take the vision and passion for reaching the world and run hard, teaching others to do the same)
We´ve seen God do amazing things on our campus, in our faculties, on our teams and in our hearts.

Prayer;
Strength, Endurance, Perseverance, Boldness, Courage.....Remembering to depend on the Spirit for these things.
Health...physical and spiritual...protection from Satan´s lies and harms.
Large outreach this Thursday
- 500 people would come out and hear the Gospel
-that we would be able to get bibles from the Gideons to give away
- that everything would run smoothly and it wouldn´t rain all day
And finally that we would fix our eyes on Jesus and run with strength and endurance, giving this ministry our all until the last day and bring many more students into God´s kingdom and build into many more future leaders of the ministry. And that the glory would be His and His alone.

Please remember me and our team in your prayers, thats how God works! I miss you all, I´ll send another update asap! much love!

the more...

Hello Everyone,
Hope you had a great day! Here´s the more I promised;

May 14 to 18
Week two on Campus went even better than the first. We saw more brothers and sisters come to Christ, shared the power of the Holy Spirit with Christians and set up events for the week. We had talks in classrooms, a lunch for the leaders of the political groups in the law faculty, more talks on ethics, values and leadership, set up a table with info on campus for Christ and did more initiative evangelism. We had many opportunities to follow-up with students who indicated they wanted to talk more about God, though only about 1 in 3 show up to their appointments with us. Even though it seemed a bit discouraging at first, we soon saw that God had bigger plans like bringing other people into our paths or giving us the opportunity to build into the panamanian students. On friday of this week we had one girl show up for follow-up. Her name is Gladys. She told us how her mom was catholic and her sister and brother in law were Christian and she was torn between pleasing her mom or her brother in law and sister (whom she lives with). She told us how when she went to Church with her mom she felt preached at but when she went to church with her brother in law and sister she heard how Jesus was making a difference in people´s lives. And she wanted that, wanted to be close to God. We shared the gospel with her and she prayed to recieve Christ. She was so happy she had finally found how to know God personally like the people in her brother-in-law and sister´s church. We invited her out to church on sunday and she was there waiting when we got there. Please pray for her as we meet up with her again and talk more about living the Christian life.

Today we went to the Old Panama ruins. They were so beautiful! The government has started restoring the old Church and it´s really quite amazing and the view from the tower is breath-taking. We took lots of pictures and spent some time just admiring God´s creation and the amzing ways he gifted mankind to make such amazing structures. We also visited the museum and market place. We spent the afternoon with our Panamanian friends, shopping and taking pictures in the mall.

Sorry its been so long...

Hello Everyone,
Hope you are all well. Sorry its been so long since my last update, things have been very busy lately. Here is a recap of a few things that have happened since May 4th:

May 5
Saturdays are days to relax and sightsee! So today we went to the Panama Cannal! It was amazing, we even got to see a ship going through the locks. They also had a museum all about it´s history. We took lots of pictures and walked around for awhile. Then we went to Albrook mall for a couple hours of shopping (things are extremely cheap here...shirts for a dollar etc...so we got a few things we could wear while were here)

May 6
Campus Crusade started their own church service or fellowship on Sundays-so we went there for church. It was really neat to hear testimonies and such -seeing that God is working in peoples lives even half way around the world...makes God seem alot bigger than the box I had put Him in. Something else neat happened today. Me and Adora my roommate were in a store when the waitress from the restaurant beside our hotel came in and we started talking. She asked us why we were all here and we told her. Then she started telling us how she had really been struggling in her faith for years and she mentioned that she say us praying for our meals (whenever we came to the restaurant she works at) and she could tell it was from our hearts and we were close to God. We gave her the 4 spiritual laws book explaining how to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and asked if she could meet up again. Turns out she became a Christian when she was young but never really understood how to grow in her faith but thought by trying to be a good person God would love her and she was becoming frustrated that nothing worked out on her own strength. Me, Adora and another girl named Raquel have been meeting with her every week and answering her questions and studying the Word together. Shes really understanding and desiring to know more. Its amazing how something like praying for our meals can impact someone so deeply. Please pray for our friend, Julietta.

May 7 to 11
Our first week on campus! So much happened this week! We did alot of initiative evangelism, just walking around campus (or our faculty) and talking to people and sharing the gospel (4 spiritual laws) if they are interested or the Holy Spirit booklet (explaining how to live dependent on the Holy Spirit) if they are already a Christian. The staff also do talks in classrooms about values and ethics, leadership and relationships...which all lead into the gospel presentation. We then get the classes to fill out comment cards about whether they want more info and we contact them and meet up with them in the next couple days to chat one on one. We had lots of very interesting conversations, not sure exactly the stats, but I know that I{ve been blessed to lead two people to Christ so far, though many many more have come to make that decision. Though I haven´t seen too many people come to Christ, i have had the opportunity to share the Spirit filled life with many Christians which is encouraging to see Christians finally understanding how to live the abundant life on Gods strength not their own. We also met lots of the students involved with Campus Crusade and have had the opportunity to show them how to share the gospel (and also take them out to translate for us when were sharing the gospel!) Overall our first week was very exciting and we saw God do some amazing things, which I know are just going to multiply in the following weeks!
We´ve also managed to squeeze in laundry and grocery trips, meals, a few birthday parties, walks to the ocean, swimming in the pool, hanging out, playing games, worship times, more training and spending time with the Panamanians (hence why I haven´t written in awhile...they are very relational! and never let us leave! haha) oh and a bit of sleep!

May 12
We went to a market today, saw lots of different crafts, clothing, paintings, pottery, jewelry etc. all homemade, it was really something... Couldn´t make up my mind what I should get people though, so we just walked around for awhile and looked. I´ll have to go back before we leave. Did a bit more shopping, got some groceries and laundry and such. Evening was quiet, everyone is pretty exhausted after our first week on campus so we just talked for awhile and played some games. We´re really getting to know one another now and its neat to see God bonding us and helping us love one another by faith as brothers and sisters...it´s going to be hard to leave everyone when the time comes.

May 13
Went to Church again and spent some time with the Panamanian students afterwards. We had a pizza and calling party where we got the Panamanian students to call and set up appointments for the week for those people who had gone to talks and said they wanted to talk to us more about God. It was a late night but we got a lot of appointments set up...it´s going to be another busy week! Oh, and Happy Mother´s Day Mom!! Love you!

More to come!! Very Soon!

Hola family and friends,
Hope everyone is well...Im doing great besides the fact Im sweating out places I didnt know I could sweat and unable to find the punctuation keys on this spanish keyboard haha so please dont mind the lack of punctuation. As I guess you can figure out...Ive arrived safe and sound in Panama! and let me tell you...its hot! and extremely beautiful.
Its been an amazing few days of growing and training in the gospel and how to use our spanish resources. Weve had a few spanish lessons from the christian students at the university and my vocab is growing daily. Ive met quite a few panamanians already and have to say they are probably some of the nicest people Ive ever met...though their driving is quite scary! I dont think God is going to have too much trouble giving me His heart for these people...they are amazing...dont worry Mom and Dad I promise Ill come home in June..you havent lost me to them... yet haha. We toured the campus today and just prayed for our different faculties..my group will be reaching out to the law faculty and Im really excited for Monday morning when we finally get to go to the campus and get started. We are going to find some english speakers to translate for us when we go out sharing our faith and we will also be doing some events focused on reaching out to the law students here. Please be praying for us daily, the language barrier is a big one for most of us and Satan is definately putting fears and doubts in our minds. Please pray that we would not under estimate the power of the Holy Spirit in us but trust that we can do ALL things through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Tomorrow we will be having a day off (like most Saturdays will be) and well be heading to the Panama cannal, which is very exciting, Ill take lots of pictures dont worry! and Sunday we get to experience our first panamanian church service which apparently runs for between 2 and 3 hours! hopefully its air conditioned haha. Anyways, I guess thats all for now, looking forward to next week when Ill be able to share all the amazing things God did our first week on campus! God Bless you all and thanks again for making this experience possible, I have no doubt this is where God wants me to be!
