My last week in Panama

June 3rd to 10th was our last week of project before debrief. The staff stayed in Panama city while we students stepped out in faith and up in leadership to reach villages all across Panama. I was chosen to co-lead one of the 3 teams heading to the different cities. My team got sent to a city called Santiago. For the first two days we were at the university of Panama campus in santiago (a satilite campus to the one we were on in Panama city) We worked with the staff there doing evangelism and a talk to share the vision of Campus for Christ with sudent leaders on that campus. We saw 14 students accept Christ in 2 days!!
From Wednesday to Sunday we went to various smaller villages to show the Jesus Film. I have many many amazing stories of how God used us in Santiago, often dispite our doubts. God held off rain, kept us safe from the many crazy stray dogs, provided locations for us to show the film, fixed many technical problems, brought out hundreds of people to see the film and brought 197 men, women and children into His kingdom...all in 5 days!
After one amazing week of seeing God work in amazing ways the teams gathered together again for debrief in Playa Blanca, an beautiful resort, where we caught up on rest, relaxed in the sun, praised God for all He had done in Panama, and made plans to continue being used by and getting to know God when we headed back home.
God definately stretched my faith in these past few weeks. It was amazing to see how faithful God is and the things He could do, even when I was doubting they could happen. Over our time in Panama we saw almost 500 people give their lives to Christ...thats almost 500 more brothers and sisters adopted into the family and who we will one day see again when we join God in heaven. Praise God! Not only that, but we were able to build into the movement in Panama and give them the resources to continue strong for Christ and continue to change Panama even after we are gone. That's truly amazing to me! Thanks to everyone who made this trip possible...I couldn't have done it without your prayers and support. I thank God for each and every one of you who helped me follow in Christ's footsteps in telling the world of His amazing love and gift of salvation. However, through your prayers and financial gifts, you all played just as big a role as I did in accomplishing God's work this summer, please remember that. Thanks again!

So, I'm not very good at this blog thing...

So as you can tell from the fact that I havent posted on here since May...I'm not so good at this blog thing...of course not having internet in June didnt help...anyways excuses excuses...I'm home now without a summer job lined up, so I have lots of time to catch everyone up on whats happened since May 21st :)

Here goes...good thing I kept a journal ;)

May 21st-May 25th
This week on campus consisted mainly of building into students we saw come to
Christ and making sure they got plugged into the ministry so they would have support when we left. Myself and 2 other girls had the opportunity to share the vision of Campus Crusade for Christ (to change the world by turning lost students into Christ centered labourers) with a group of girls who are already involved in a bible study. They were very excited to have the chance to be involved in changing the world for Christ, which was neat and refreshing for me to see.
Thursday we had our campus wide outreach (a large concert) where we shared the Gospel and worshipped God right on Campus. We had hundreds of students come out...probably close to 500 came and went throughout the afternoon. We were able to give away 200 New Testaments as well as other resources. God was so faithful to us and we saw everything happen in God's timing (eg. the Bibles arrived less than an hour before we began!) not our timing. But through that God stretched our faith in Him. It was incredible to see how God brought everything including the weather under control so that we could proclaim His name on that campus. God is amazing!

May 26th-27th
Saturday we went to a beach in Santa Clara...it was beautiful! We spent the day in the ocean's waves and relaxing and enjoying God's beautiful creation. We came home covered in sand and with many sunburns.
Sunday we headed to church and spent the morning praising God for all he had done this week. In the evening we had a BBQ to celebrate all God did through the concert and thank Him for all He did in us and through us.

May 28th-31st
Our last week on campus! Monday to Wednesday I was on campus doing what we did last week, tying up ends and saying goodbye to the many friends and brothers and sisters in Christ I had made these last 4 weeks. Thursday I had the opportunity to go to the technology university with 3 others and a few of our staff to give a talk there. The panamanian staff are starting a ministry there and wanted us to come help spread the word and get people to come to the talk. We went around telling people about the talk and when the time came we had about 40 students come out...even cooler than that, 33 filled out comment cards and 29 accepted Christ through our invitaion to pray to recieve Christ!! God continues to amaze us! Thursday night we had a goodbye party with all our Panamanian brothers and sisters. There were alot of pictures, laughs and tears. It was hard to say goodbye to the people we had come to know and love so much in such a short amount of time.

June 1st-2nd
Rest and Relaxation!
We had a couple days to rest before jumping into the Jesus Film cycle, so we headed to a mountain retreat in El Valle. It was a beautiful little getaway where we caught up on much needed sleep, enjoyed God's creation, went hiking and swimming in a beautiful waterfall and enjoyed relaxing with eachother before we were split into 3 different teams for the Jesus Film Cycle.
